Hi there, I'm Thaddeus, and this is my companion, Hazel. We've been on this incredible journey together for the past 8 years, and Hazel has played an instrumental role in shaping me into who I am today. When Hazel first came into my life, she was just two years old and had already experienced two previous homes.
If you've ever welcomed a dog into your life with a history of reactivity towards other dogs, you understand the heightened awareness that comes with it. Hazel's reactivity was among the most challenging I'd ever encountered. At the mere sight of another dog, she'd transform into what we affectionately called 'Witchy Hazel.' It's important to note that this behavior didn't make her a bad dog; she simply had her own unique set of challenges to overcome.
As time passed, I delved into the world of dog communication, studying their body language, stances, intensity, engagement, and, of course, their vocalizations. Hazel, in particular, possessed the most impressive growl I'd ever heard. Together, we embarked on a journey of perseverance, establishing our very own language through routines and meaningful engagement. While the challenges still remain, Hazel has made remarkable strides in learning how to connect with other dogs, and I couldn't be prouder of her growth.
